il canneto

SANGIOVESE MAREMMA TOSCANA DOC
The wine is obtained from a mixture of various clones of Sangiovese grapes cultivated on the hills of the Maremma. This highly regarded variety has attracted the attention of all ampeleographers. Originated in Tuscany it is cultivated throughout the region and widely diffused, in numerous clones, in the Tuscan Maremma.
The hot arid climate of the Grosseto area, with few precipitations, acts as a limiting factor on production. This is a benefit for the quality of the grapes. Especially for Sangiovese grapes.

San giuseppe

MORELLINO DI SCANSANO
The San Giuseppe homestead, an old stone farmhouse in the Fattoria Mantellassi estate, gives its name to this Morellino di Scansano D.O.C.G. selection. After the vintage in the month of January, the year’s best lots of Morellino are selected and aged in small French oak barrels for about six months. After 2-3 months of bottle aging this wine boasts excellent organoleptic qualities: a superior smooth and balanced vinous bouquet, and a pleasant fresh taste.

maestrale

CILIEGIOLO MAREMMA TOSCANA DOC
Ciliegiolo is one of the most typical grapes of Maremma Toscana. Its name is due to the notes of cherry (=”ciliegia” in Italian) that we can feel in its nice bouquet. Its taste is smooth and its color strong and bright. Fresh and pleasant with a full body you can match this wine with any dish of the traditional Tuscan cuisine

lucumone

VERMENTINO MAREMMA TOSCANA DOC
Magliano in Toscana is a hillside town in the Tuscan Maremma much appreciated for its city walls and monuments. The ruins of Heba, an ancient Etruscan city, are extremely interesting. Heba yielded important information about Etruscan civilization and its governors, called Lucumoni. Lucumone is a fresh, fruity wine produced from 100% Vermentino Bianco grapes. With the name Lucumone, the Mantellassi family pays tribute to the Etruscans.

masso bianco

MAREMMA TOSCANA DOC
White grapes from the oldest Maremma viticultural tradition are used to make Sasso Bianco.
This wine represents the evolution of Maremma farmhouse whites. Its fragrance, freshness, friendly taste and eclectic table pairings make this a popular wine.

The Mantellassi’s from Pistoia moved to the Scansano and Magliano area around 1860 where they practiced the profession of “potini” and “grafts”.
Always winemakers, in 1960 they began planting the first four hectares of vineyards in the Banditaccia area, up to the current one hundred. These extend over some of the many hills of the Farm, in tuffaceous-calcareous soils with an ampelographic base consisting mainly of the Sangiovese grape, then the Alicante, Cabernet Sauvignon, Morellino, Merlot, Canaiolo Nero, Malvasia Nera, Ciliegiolo, Vermentino Bianco vines , Sauvignon Bianco.

The Mantellassi Farm has contributed significantly to the establishment of the Controlled Designation of Origin of Morellino di Scansano in 1978 and is considered one of the most prestigious producers.
